Putrajaya Cruise In Brief
If you have exhausted your energy walking and traveling around Putrajaya, the new capital administration of Malaysia, why not take a cruise on the man-made lake and see the city various landmarks in the comfort of the big air conditioned passenger boat. For those who want to try the open air gondola type vessel, go in the evening at about 5pm or in the morning at about 10am as the weather can be quite hot in the noon time.
As you cruise along the beautiful lake, you will be able to see the landmarks of the city which include Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putra Bridge, Seri Saujana Bridge, Seri Gemilang Bridge, Prime Minister's office (Perdana Putra), Palace of Justice, Millennium Monument, Putra Mosque and the Ministry of Finance.
Type of Boats
There are 2 types of boats that you can choose from to cruise the lake. The bigger type cruise boat called Belimbing Passenger Cruise boat is an air conditioned boat that will take you round Putrajaya Lake for 45 minutes. The regular price of the cruise is:
Adult: RM30.00 per person
Child: RM20.00 per person
Family: RM4.00 per child for the second child onwards
The operating hours is from 1:00pm to 6:00pm during the weekdays and the time is extended to 7:00pm during the weekends.
The other cruise is using gondola-like vessel which is called Dondang Sayang Perahu boat. It is a replica of the traditionalfishing boats used in the East Coast of malaysia. The vessel is made locally using Chengal Mas, a local hardwood found in theforest of Malaysia. The route covered is from Putra Jetty to Seri Perdana Complex, taking a time of approximately 25 minutes.The regular price of the cruise is:
Adult: RM20.00 per person
Child: RM12.00 per person
Family: RM2.00 per child for the second child onwards
The operating hours is from 10:00am to 6:30pm.
If you come as a family of four, there is a discount which is given throughout the year. For instance, if you come as a family of 2 adults and 2 children, the cost of the gondola-like vessel is only RM54 instead of RM64.
Getting to Putrajaya Cruise Jetty
You should be able to find this place easily as it is located near Dataran Putra, the biggest square near Putra Mosque. Walk down the steps from Dataran Putra and follow Cruise Tasik signage and you will reach the jetty in less than 5 minutes. The ticketing counter is located at Putra Jetty, underneath Putra Bridge.
